Description du lieu patrimonial
Telesphore Marion House is a one-and-a-half storey grey brick house built in 1922 located on the southeast corner of Front Street and McNaughton Avenue in North Quesnel, BC. The historic place includes the building and the parcel of land it occupies.
Valeur patrimoniale
The house holds cultural and social value as a physical reminder of the people who shaped the development of Quesnel. The building was constructed by 'Brick' Leonard who owned a brickyard along the Quesnel River at the end of Barlow Avenue. The interior carpentry was done by well-known local contractors: the Norwood Brothers.
The house is named for pioneering businessman Telesphore Marion, who was a prominent community member and exemplified the growth and change of Quesnel over the years. Telesphore opened a store on Front Street that traded with miners and trappers. Tom's business grew and the store expanded to include four warehouses for gas and coal oil, furs, flour and sugar, and general merchandise.
