Description du lieu patrimonial
Lazzarin House is a two-storey wood frame house located on the west side of Hoy Street in West Quesnel, BC. The historic place is confined to the building footprint.
Valeur patrimoniale
The house holds historical value as a physical reminder of the people who shaped the development of Quesnel. It was built and lived in by a locally known contractor, Stephen Lundy Hilborn and later by Giovanni “John” Acasto Lazzarin Sr. and his wife Carlotta who as a blacksmith and entrepreneur, were prominent members of the community.
It also holds social and cultural value as an example of the growth and change of Quesnel over time. As the city grew and the need for more rental housing became apparent, the single dwelling was converted into rental accommodation.
Éléments caractéristiques
The character-defining elements of Lazzarin House include:
- the original 1909 main floor of the structure
- its wood frame construction
