Description du lieu patrimonial
The Little Moose Church is a Municipal Heritage Property consisting of approximately one hectare of land located in the Rural Municipality of Three Lakes about 20 kilometres west of the Town of St. Brieux. The property features a one-storey wood-frame church, cemetery and surrounding grounds.
Valeur patrimoniale
The Little Moose Church is valued as one of the oldest buildings in what was the Little Moose District. Built in 1930, the church is the last remaining element of the St. Phillip’s Mission that was established at Little Moose in 1927. Priests from nearby St. Brieux served the district that was comprised of mainly Hungarian immigrants. This simple wood-frame building, typical of Christian churches of the period, incorporates Gothic elements such as a bell tower over the front entrance, mitre arched windows and steep gable roof.
