Statement of Significance
Description of Historic Place
Beaver Lodge is a one and one-half storey wood framed residence with log siding, pitched roof with shed dormers front and rear and half-timbered side wall gable ends situated on an open lot in a residential area in Banff, Alberta.
Heritage Value
The historical value of Beaver Lodge lies in its direct association with Norman Luxton and its representation of the development of residential rental accommodation to meet the demands of the town’s burgeoning population shortly before World War One. Built in 1914 by Norman Luxton for use as a boarding house rental property, Beaver Lodge has been home to many prominent Banff citizens including William Round who lived and operated the Banff Academy of Music in this house.
