Description of Historic Place

The Dalhousie Town Hall Provincial Historic Site is a two-storey grey stucco Art Déco building located at 117 Hall Street in the Town of Dalhousie.

Heritage Value

Built in 1939, this municipal building is one of the rare examples of Art Déco architecture found in northern New Brunswick. Fred. J. Bateman, a municipal engineer employed by the Town of Dalhousie, designed the plans and supervised the work on the town hall. Typical of Art Déco style, it is a cubic construction with simplified ornamentation, minimal fenestration, as well as a geometrical, balanced, and symmetrical façade.
