Description of Historic Place
Herby (Bert) Corbin Monument is an engraved granite monument located on Broadway Boulevard, in the last section of the median between Pleasant and Main streets.
Heritage Value
Herby (Bert) Corbin Monument is designated a Local Historic Place in recognition of Mr. Corbin's importance to the community.
Herby (Bert) Corbin was the chief of police in Grand Falls from 1939 to 1960. He was shot to death while responding to a domestic disturbance call. Chief Corbin was very much appreciated in the community for his personal and professional involvement. The Grand Falls Police Association erected the granite monument in his honour in the late 1980’s.
