Description of Historic Place
Erected in front of the Edmundston city hall in 1950 (1st and 2nd parts) and 1994 (3rd part), Edmundston Cenotaph is a granite obelisk that stands proudly, honouring the memory of the region’s war veterans.
Heritage Value
Edmundston Cenotaph is designated a Local Historic Place because of its role in commemorating the war efforts of the many soldiers from the region. This granite obelisk monument pays tribute to the veterans and the war dead of the First World War (1914-1918), the Second World War (1939-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953). It was erected in the heart of the city of Edmundston in 1950.
