Statement of Significance
Description of Historic Place
315 Princess Street is a tall two-storey house, with front verandah and a two-storey gable-roofed western wing, situated on a wide lot on the north side of Princess Street between Second and Fourth Streets in the Glenbrooke North neighbourhood of New Westminster. Beside it to the east and set back on the property is a carport/garage.
Heritage Value
The house at 315 Princess Street is valued for its age and architectural significance.
Constructed in 1919, this house is one of three remaining houses built that year in the Glenbrooke North neighbourhood. Originally farmland, the 200 and 300 blocks of Princess Street were owned by Archibald Campbell, whose son subdivided the lots circa 1910.
The house is valued for its Edwardian-era details of medium gabled-roof form, full-width front porch with wood columns, wood bevel siding and fish-scale shingling under the gable peak. It is additionally valued for being true to its original design elements.
