Heritage Value

The "Seagull" was originally constructed in 1873 as a Customs House. It later served various community roles including as a general store, warehouse, and community hall (upstairs in the warehouse). It is significant as an example of late 19th Century public building architecture in Victoria, PEI. The wood framed building was locally built by Angus Brien and features typical Island wood shingle cladding on the exterior and some decorative Gothic Revival trim elements around many of the original windows.
